Cyclone proof house has been constructed by British Royal Navy at Kutubdia.

As the symbol of solidarity to the cyclone prone coastal people The British Royal Navy, in collaboration with COAST Trust and Manusher Janna Foundation, helped construction of cyclone proof house at the AliAkbor Dail, Kutubdia, Cox’sbazar. The house has been handed over to a widow named Rojo Bala (45) who lost her husband in super cyclone during 29th April 1991. The house has two storied where ground floor is open and the 1st floor is for living. This is a demonstration of cyclone proof house that can be a model for other people of coastal inhabitants. The real/true papers of the land and key of the house has been handed over to Rojo Bala through a formal ceremony dated 30th April, 2009, where local MP (Member of Parliament) Mr. Hamidur Rahaman Azad, Upazila Chairman Mr. ATM Nurul Bashar Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kutubdia Upazila, local Union Parishad Chairmen, political leaders, local civil society leaders and representatives of British Royal Navy spook. Mr. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Executive Director of COAST Trust moderated the whole session.
